Wonderfulness

Hi guys! I haven't uploaded any new pictures to my computer in far too long. In any case, I just launched a concept blog, called The Indigo Moods (theindigomoods.blogspot.com), which I am only too excited about. I'd love if you went over there and visited, commented, and/or followed! It would mean so much to me.

My week has been very unexciting, which was actually kind of nice for a change. I mostly just sat around on the couch and all that. How was yours?

I Come Back in Sequins

This week, I almost lost my phone, which would have been a catastrophe because I'm one of those people who feel morally lost when they lose an eraser. I also bought seaweed from Amazon, listened to Tavi Gevinson talk for Nylon Mag while mourning the loss of her archive, and listened to lots of Rihanna x Eminem, who I like because he's angry.

In New York I also experimented with trying out relatively colorless photography, which I've never done before because I just never thought of doing it. (Clearly, I am full of interesting things to say!) Though below are the results, which I actually did end up liking (sorry for another skyline, but I couldn't help myself). I also made a short (very short) (very very short) (very very very short) (it's two seconds long) video that I will upload some other time, because I tried already and it came out not very well.

Color is like umami, because you can't explain it. How would you describe it to someone who had never seen before? Just like the meaning of umami is a "savory and pleasant flavor," I think "color" should have a meaning like "a fantabulously wonderful part of the way humans view the world."

Starstruck

Hey everybody! I just discovered that Beyonce actually exists... I mean, I knew about her already, of course, but I never actually liked her music before, because I'm always behind in this stuff. In any case, I was walking down the street when  found this lovely little flower shop, and I had to take a picture. Now, however, it's just a permanent reminder on my phone that spring is still not here. The weather is getting ridiculous, because even though we have pretty "good" winters and summers, I really don't live in Siberia.

How is the weather and this week going for you? Instagram tells me that the weather in Paris is looking pretty good... Nothing like Instagram to make you a jealous h8r. I heard MySpace is looking for users, though...

Let's Stay

Sorry for not being on this thing in forever. But I've decided to actually start writing on it more.  In the meantime, I spent a lot of time living the moment - fantastic concept - and debating whether to eat cheerios or cheese for breakfast - I clearly chose cheese (just kidding. I'm hilarious... But I chose cheerios every time, because I'm going through one of those years where I just can't stand one kind of food, and this year, it's cheese. Cheers!) And also, has anyone noticed that we've made it halfway through the third month of 2015? YAYYYY. Someone get a cake. (Preferably that walnut cake they served last New Year's Eve so I can reminisce about it.)

Lately, I've also been developing a fascination with black and white photography. It's kind of fascinating how nearly every scene looks good when its shot in black and white. And I've also discovered developing film; why in the world and WHEN did it even become old and uncool?! For some reason every film photograph is incredibly aesthetically perfect. OOH, and national ice cream day is on Sunday, July 19. Just saying.

When I Grow Up

For the first time ever, I realized that I don't know what I want to do with my future. Maybe it wasn't exactly the first time, because I've often told myself how nice it would be to have a sport that I specialize in, to compete in and to try and make it up the rankings. And I guess things that you dedicate yourself to have an impact on your future - if you ever want to get anywhere in life with swimming, you have to start very early. I feel as if instead of dedicating myself to something, I stray from fifty things. I cancel this piano lesson and that cello lesson, I quit ballet, sailing, and swimming, and I'm starting to be way less passionate about learning new languages. But I also don't know what I want to do when I grow up. I've never put much thought into it, and though there are good aspects to keeping your options open, there are also bad ones. Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?

I keep telling myself I should start a diary, which would be a way for me to write more and remember more of what I do. Except I really don't know whether or not I will actually be able to remember writing in it, because I can't even remember whether yesterday's lunch was pasta or soup. So instead of a diary, I have this blob of the internet (I made a Bloglovin', by the way, and I promise to follow back for GFC and Bloglovin'). Here is my week in photos, just because it's the kind of post that everyone knows how to do.

I went to New York and saw a rainbow and decided that it would be a good idea to take a picture of it; I made a mini light-sensitive robot that glows in different colors in the dark.

Okay, I think I'm done. What did you do this week?

Mood Indigo

For President's Day weekend, I went to Florida. We swam in a vivid blue ocean that seemed alive - maybe it really was. We made our own pizza from scratch, which ended up tasting amazing. I was surprised, because... I'm one of those awful people who burn brownies. And, of course, we stopped by the pool and spent thirty minutes admiring those cool neon inflatable donuts that some people had. Can I pretend that I will actually stay here forever?

Over the weekend, I also discovered what my favorite English word is. English has over 3,000 words that make up its vocabulary, but I'm still able to pick a favorite: whistle. Say it. I think you love it too. I associate whistling to happiness, and also the wind. There are a lot of things in life that make your entire self whistle with joy. Sometimes, you can feel hollow inside, and the whistling inside of you thrums against you. And sometimes, you feel so entirely sad that the whistling inside you shrivels and dies, but it always comes back - a thousand shades brighter.

What did you do over the long weekend? What is your favorite word, and why? I'd love to know!

Fantasy

Hey, everyone! Long while no talk (not since last month, anyway). It's already February, which is completely absurd. The older I get, the faster time seems to go by. Maybe it's because I more actively register the passing of time, or maybe it's because I spend so much more of my life trying to make sure I get stuff done that I miss the old days, in which I actually wanted homework, and in which I never realized that I would actually grow up.

In any case, at least we now know that Maru is here to cheer us up, along with his obsession with boxes. (Maru is a cat, so don't not click the link because you think it sounds strange, 'cuz I promise that the video will make your day so much better!) There is also Rihanna and her FourFive Seconds Video,  which is not only stunning but addictive. After all, we got three more days till Friday (that is, next Tuesday we will).

The Chronicles of Dog

Hey everybody! Long while no talk. That's probably because I've pretty much  had nothing better to do than watch snow melting (it happens surprisingly fast - trust me) and chase after my dog, Caline. And then, something exciting happened when I realized that I haven't yet introduced her to you.
She's a lab/beagle/greyhound/nobody really knows mix, and she's very passionate about ingesting snow.

Golden Nights

I came to New York to see what I could see - that's from a children's book, isn't it? - and to find the living part. (Edie Sedgwick)

Describing Color

http://photos-e.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xfa1/t51.2885-15/10914122_1540192176236428_819299425_n.jpg

How do you describe color to someone who has never seen before? I never thought about something like that until I went outside, and to my shock, the weather was matching my snowflake pantoufles (house slippers). Everything was either white or black. I spent the day outside and my camera almost risked water damage, but I think it was worth it! (I also felt very clever and all that because I posted these on Instagram with the #somewherexelseinthewinter, the kind of thing that all the major, professional bloggers do!)

How do you describe the stillness of snow, or the way that it crunches under your feet to someone who has never heard before?
I'm currently wondering if in Australia, 'summer vacation' is actually during the December-January months, since the seasons are the opposite in Australia of what they are here. I'd love for any of you from Australia to tell me!

In any case, this was the shortest winter ever. The snow melted and the fresh, lovely cold flew away already.

The Pineapple Days

I can't believe that it's 2015 already. The year does feel different - there is something fresh and exciting about throwing 2014 and my old calendar in the trash can under my desk, and opening clean new one. Hi, 2015!

One year is made up of 31,556,926 seconds- and I'm planning to make every one of these seconds count! Here are my resolutions for the year, probably to be thought of again only on December 31...

1. Ask more questions.
2. Get much more organized. Maybe clean my room...
3. Become a morning person.
4. Practice piano and cello.
5. Do something really well.

Here's a mixed tape for the start of 2015! I cannot get Deezy Daisy's refrain out of my head- "Let's dance, deezy daisy!" (And there we go again)
