Mood Indigo

For President's Day weekend, I went to Florida. We swam in a vivid blue ocean that seemed alive - maybe it really was. We made our own pizza from scratch, which ended up tasting amazing. I was surprised, because... I'm one of those awful people who burn brownies. And, of course, we stopped by the pool and spent thirty minutes admiring those cool neon inflatable donuts that some people had. Can I pretend that I will actually stay here forever?

Over the weekend, I also discovered what my favorite English word is. English has over 3,000 words that make up its vocabulary, but I'm still able to pick a favorite: whistle. Say it. I think you love it too. I associate whistling to happiness, and also the wind. There are a lot of things in life that make your entire self whistle with joy. Sometimes, you can feel hollow inside, and the whistling inside of you thrums against you. And sometimes, you feel so entirely sad that the whistling inside you shrivels and dies, but it always comes back - a thousand shades brighter.

What did you do over the long weekend? What is your favorite word, and why? I'd love to know!

  1. Florida looks gorgeous! My favorite word right now is probably bubble. Say it. I also like the phrase zebra cub (I know it's not a word, but it makes me think, and I laugh every time)

  2. Sweet photos! I wish I was there......
Also, my favorite word is "indomitable." It's so strong, both in phono-aesthetics and meaning.
Love your blog, by the way!
